  • Select an Appropriate Space

A space with a minimum area of 1000 sq. ft. required to set up an ATAL lab, with good ventilation and sufficient electrical outlets, is required. You can also work to find a space as an individual or a team.

  • Submit Your Application via the Official AIM Portal

Schools need to register and apply via the online ATAL innovation mission (AIM) portal for government and private schools. The eligible schools that meet the criteria receive a grant of 20 lakhs over five years for capital expenses and their operational cost.

  • Purchase Certified and Approved Equipment

Once your grant is approved, the school follows the official procurement guidelines to purchase the robotic kits, computers, and other electronic components. The approved or certified vendors help you to find these components to set up your lab.

  • Set Up and Organise the ATL Laboratory

Once the equipment is set up, the workbenches and software installation are done. Cable management and labelling can be done together, which makes a good configuration of the lab.

  • Provide Training for Teachers and Staff

ATAL tinkering lab is only effective if the educators are equally trained. Teachers need to understand that they need to train and facilitate the students. There are various educational training programs for teachers that are designed to help them understand the environment of the ATAL lab.

  • Start the Program with Workshops and Competitions

Once your lab is ready, you need to make it work with regular workshops, hackathons, interschool competitions, and exhibitions. Schools can also participate in the Atal marathon to help their students get exposure and recognition.
